In an article in The Times of India, author Priya Gupta lists 8 most popular coffee drinks in the world, in which Vietnamese filter coffee ranks second. Filter coffee still retains its traditional value next to coffee from modern coffee machines.
The first is the South Indian filter coffee. People brew coffee in a metal filter, similar to two cylindrical cups superimposed, the top has a bottom with small holes for the cup below to receive the coffee. This coffee is mixed with hot milk and sugar. You can enjoy this special coffee that originated in South India.
Vietnamese filter coffee: Vietnamese-style concentrated coffee drops are processed through a coffee filter. Coffee is placed in a filter, boiling water is added so that it drips into the glass below. This coffee filter in Vietnam is similar to what the South Indians do. Vietnamese filter coffee is usually black, can be mixed with sweetened condensed milk. However, if you drink this coffee mixed with milk, the taste is better.
Espresso: This is deep black coffee, prepared by steaming aromatic roasted coffee beans at high pressure in an espresso machine. A perfect espresso will have a thick golden-brown cream on the surface. If the frosting is good, when you add sugar it will float to the top for a few seconds before slowly sinking to the bottom. Espresso is the basis for a range of specialty coffees such as Cappuccino, but many connoisseurs have insisted that adding anything (other than a little sugar) to this coffee is blasphemous. Espresso can be taken as a vegetarian or with a teaspoon of sugar.
Turkish coffee. This is a very strong, aromatic coffee prepared in an ibrik, a small pot that holds one or two servings of coffee. This small pot is traditionally brewed in the hot sands of the Mediterranean for cooking. The best Turkish coffee is pure black coffee, but you can also add milk as an option.
Americano coffee. This is the only variation of Espresso in the US with a cup of hot water added. You can put ice in it for a refreshing drink on hot days. Many people prefer to drink this coffee mixed with milk or sugar, but connoisseurs recommend adding milk to a minimum to get the best flavor from the espresso.
Cappuccino coffee. This is a very famous coffee drink that most coffee shops serve. A true Cappuccino is a combination of espresso ingredients, hot milk and milk foam. This drink, if done properly, can become a dessert with complex and rich flavors. It's common to sprinkle your Cappuccino foam with a bit of unsweetened cocoa powder or a little dark chocolate.
Coffee Latte. This is a coffee consisting of 1 part Espresso with 3 parts hot milk. You can drink coffee latte while enjoying it with cookies or sponge cake.
Mocha Coffee: A Cappuccino or Latte with chocolate syrup or chocolate powder sprinkled on top, can also be garnished with cream.
With the development of coffee machine technology, the cultural value of Vietnamese filter coffee always gives the drinker a special feeling.
