The story of ECM Manufacture
The ECM Manufacture journey began 25 years ago when founder Wolfgang Hauck had a vision to collaborate with Italian partner ECM S.p.A to create heat exchanger espresso machines for upscale households.
In 1996, Hauck turned his dream into reality and introduced his own products to the market, starting with the popular "ECM Technika" model.
The product range expanded gradually, with machines initially assembled in the same Italian factory where most ECM machines are still manufactured today. The demand for household machines with an Italian espresso bar character and flair was significant, leading to rapid company growth.
In 2005, the partnership with the Italian ECM S.p.A came to an end. Then, the design, construction, and product development were relocated to Germany. Two years later, production, initially outsourced to a third-party company, was brought in-house. Currently, ECM machines are manufactured at two locations: single-boiler and heat exchanger models in Italy, and dual-boiler Synchronika models, commercial machines, and the complete grinder range in Germany.
In 2009, Michael Hauck, Wolfgang Hauck's son, joined the company's management team.
Over the years, they have built an impressive collection of historic machines, which can be found in their private in-house museum, which is seen at the heart of ECM and offers a captivating journey through the world of espresso.

ECM Manufacture has long been synonymous with the highest quality and technical innovation, drawing inspiration from the nostalgic 1960s style. Driven by passion, the company is dedicated to the continuous development of their products.
Great emphasis is placed on selecting high-quality components and avoiding the use of plastic. The goal is always the same: to create premium espresso machines that excel in functionality and product appeal, featuring meticulously crafted stainless steel bodies that enhance both aesthetics and flavor. ECM Manufacture models are not mass-produced; they are diligently manufactured using top-quality components.
The development department is currently focused on further innovations in the field of espresso culture because ECM believes that "YOU ARE THE BARISTA."
Handmade at the Centre of Espresso Culture of Italy and Germany
All ECM machines and grinders are designed and developed in Germany, exclusively produced with the finest craftsmanship in their own production facilities in Germany and Italy.
The decision to first produce in Italy and later in Germany was a conscious choice, reflecting a commitment to quality, responsibility, espresso culture, engineering, and sustainability for the environment.
In-house production is highly valued by ECM as it allows for direct oversight of the entire development process for each espresso machine and grinder. The product development, design department, and production team work closely together, creating a tightly knit and complementary team that ensures product quality and continuous monitoring of the manufacturing process. ECM is involved every step of the way, from the initial idea to distribution and ultimately reaching the customers.
One of their production facilities is situated in the northeast of Milan, the capital of Espresso, where ECM's first domestic series was manufactured decades ago. Today, this passionate Italian team produces ECM's single-boiler models Puristika, Classika PID, and the heat exchanger models of the Home Line.
The German production facilities, along with the head office, are located near Heidelberg, nestled between the Odenwald and Kraichgau. It is here that ECM manufactures Casa, Synchronika dual boiler model, their commercial line, and the complete range of grinders with utmost care and passion.
